Dr. Andi Fourlis

Director

Dr. Andi Fourlis is a dynamic and accomplished educational leader dedicated to transforming learning systems. With a career spanning 33 years in several key roles in education, she has consistently delivered innovation and excellence. As Superintendent of Mesa Public Schools from 2020-2025, Dr. Fourlis led the largest district in Arizona with over 57,000 students and 8,500 employees. Her work was marked by a focus on future ready students, strategic planning, and fostering community engagement. Points of pride include: implementation of strategic staffing models, increased employee retention, development of a Graduation Plus model, graduation rate increase from 78.6%-85.1%, upward trend in College and Career Readiness Indicators which has positively impacted state accountability measures (all high schools earned an A or B letter grade). The development of an instructional framework coupled with a comprehensive literacy plan has increased student success in both language arts and mathematics. In her previous roles as Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, she championed engaging instruction, meaningful professional learning, and community support for college, career and community ready students. Beyond the district level, Dr. Fourlis served as the Chief Learning Officer at the Arizona Science Center, where she led transformative educational programs benefiting Arizona's students and educators. Andi's formal education includes a bachelor’s degree in education with a focus on English as a Second Language from Arizona State University, a Master’s degree and reading endorsement from Northern Arizona University, and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Arizona State University. It was during her doctoral work that she truly learned the power of education’s impact on social cohesion. Notably, Dr. Fourlis has garnered awards such as a national Superintendent to Watch, Horace Mann League Ambassador for Contributions to Education, Superintendent of the Year for Contributions to Education by the Arizona School Public Relations Association and the Kathy Hunt-Ullock Award for Middle Level Advocacy, among others. She is an active participant in her church, community and educational organizations, underscoring her commitment to fostering positive change in education and society. Dr. Fourlis is currently an educational consultant working with leaders to reimagine learning.
