Kevin Humphrey is the great-grandson of the founders of Sunshine Acres Children’s Home and has been connected to its mission since childhood. At just 12 years old, he spent summers answering phones on the weekends, gaining an early appreciation for the work being done to support children in need. Growing up, Kevin attended school alongside many Sunshine Acres residents, witnessing firsthand the life-changing impact the home provided. Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and began his professional career as an IT Administrator at ConocoPhillips. Combining his technical expertise with his passion for service, he volunteered to design and implement Sunshine Acres’ first network and email system. He later expanded his career as a securities broker, helping families achieve their financial goals, but continued to stay closely connected to Sunshine Acres. In 2011, his grandmother, Carol, asked him to assist with accounting challenges at the Home. What began as a few volunteer hours quickly grew into a commitment of 30 hours a week. Realizing he could not balance both careers, Kevin made the life-changing decision to step away from his financial practice and dedicate himself full-time to Sunshine Acres. In 2012, the Board of Directors invited Kevin to serve as Executive Director. Since then, he has led with both professional expertise and a deep personal connection to the mission, continuing his family’s legacy of providing a loving, stable home for children who need it most.
